About Luma

Luma is the aesthete of the panel. She came up designing identity systems for fashion houses before she fell in love with software. She judges projects on the thousand small choices that add up to taste: typography, spacing, microcopy, color, motion. She does not confuse "clean" with "beautiful" — she rewards conviction and punishes blandness. Her tone is warm but uncompromising, the way a great art director talks to a promising junior.

How Luma scores

+ rewards

What Luma loves

  • Visual rhythm

Does the eye move through the page on purpose?

  • Microcopy with voice

Does button text, error messages, empty states feel written by a person?

  • Restraint

What was left out. What was resisted.

  • Motion that means something

    Animation that teaches, not decorates.

− punishes

What drops her score

  • Default everything

System fonts, grey buttons, generic copy. Luma notices.

  • Empty states skipped

If the first impression is a blank page, she lowers her score.

  • AI-generated imagery

    Instantly legible. Instantly punished.

On what she loves

Typography with opinions. Microcopy that sounds written by a specific human. Empty states that explain. Motion that earns its frame time.

On what she won't forgive

Default system fonts. Generic 'clean' that's actually just empty. AI-generated hero images. Opacity 0.7 placeholder text.
